Davis Graduates!

I have been taking Davis to his speech therapy appointments every other week for a while. It was huge when we stopped going every week and Julie (his therapist) was very impressed with his progress. Well, at his last appointment, she told us we don't have to go anymore!!! YAY DAVIS! We are SO proud of him and just in the last couple of weeks have seen the biggest improvement. Even his teachers at school approached me after class twice last week and commented on Davis's vocabulary and voice. I had never really mentioned anything to them about his speech before, because I did not want them to label Davis from the start of the year. So when they said something to be on their own, it was such a compliment to our little man!

He is counting to 10 all on his own, saying full sentences, calling us mommy and daddy (as opposed to mama and dada), and tells us what he needs all the time! IT IS GREAT!!!! And he seems so happy about it too. We really started to notice the change when one day recently his favorite character went from "vava" (no idea where that came from) to "mickey mouse".

WAY TO GO DAVIS!!! We love you so much!

SICK!

Well I finally got to stay in bed all day....but for all the wrong reasons! Earlier in the week, we woke up in the morning to realize that Davis had thrown up in his bed (and unfortunately seemed to sleep in it all night). We really did not think much about it, and he seemed to be feeling fine. I tried to take him to school, but he left with me as I knew he was a little off. Well, first thing Wednesday morning, Tyson rolls over and asks, "Do you feel sick by any chance?" Little did he know that I had been laying there thinking about how sick I felt! YUCK! Knowing this situation was going downhill fast, we called my mom and she came over ALL DAY to help with the kiddos.

I won't get into too many details, but it was a miserable day. And after Anna's nap, she started throwing up all over my mom.  She was so resilient though - she would play and then get sick, then go right back to playing. Anyway, we are SO thankful for GoGo and all of her help with the kids, her trips to the store and the pharmacy, and taking such good care of us.

I never thought we would all get sick at the same time, and I pray it doesn't happen again!

* I have been behind on blogging, but hope to catch up quick. Not too much has happened since this day, as it took us all a while to recover. I hope to be back on track soon!

San Antonio with the Abelings!

Moler Mania meet Abelingland
(great slogan, stole it from Vicci!)

"This is not a lazy river, its a crazy river"

It FINALLY happened...our long awaited trip with the Abelings. We tried for Port Aransas, but ended up deciding on a night down at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort (aka Kid Land).   We all headed down there early Saturday morning, after a quick stop at the Donut Hole for donuts and coffee.  (Maybe not the best idea to feed the kids donuts in the car, but heck, we were on vacation!) It was a quick drive down there (a major plus) and we had arrived!

We had rented a cabana for the day so we checked in, dropped off bags, suited up, and headed right to the pool! It was awesome - lots of pools, a lazy river, and an awesome kiddie water park. Our cabana had a little 6 inch "shelf" which was perfect for the kids.

We headed back to the room for nap time, and to avoid the tropical storm that was rolling in. The kids had a blast zipping around the hotel rooms and playing with each other. We went back out for a little bit in the afternoon, but it was COLD so we headed in and threw the kiddos in a warm bath and ordered up some macaroni and cheese from room service. Thank goodness for food, Mickey Mouse, and Little Einsteins! We had a babysitter come that night so we could have a little adult time and watch the Texas game. It was so fun, but as parents of wee ones, we all got tired so early!

The next morning was great - we all laid around, drank coffee, and were on no schedule. It was awesome! We went to an amazing brunch down at one of the restaurants and then headed back to the pool! We stayed at the kid water park pool all morning and they LOVED it to say the least. Davis must have gone down the slide no less than 50 times. In a row.

It was a great trip and we cannot wait to do it again! We absolutely loved our time with the Abelings and feel so blessed to have them as friends.

Anna - 15 months!

Our baby girl is 15 months old! I can't believe it. She is so independent, adventurous, and slightly (ok really) rebellious. She LOVES bracelets and necklaces. She LOVES stuffed animals - anything and everything. And she loves to carry them around everywhere. She is totally in love with her Daddy, and wants to be with him always, no matter what he is doing or where he is....and I often find her banging on his office door. She is talking a lot - they told me at school that she is very verbal. She does know how to whine and cry on demand....but it is mostly fake in attempt to get something she wants. She loves dancing to the "Little Einsteins" theme song. She loves reading books. She is a climber like no other. She loves her paci, her bunny, and her baths. She is perfect in every single way.

At her check-up, she was called a "supermodel" - she is so tall!

Weight: 25 pounds, 1 ounce (75th percentile)
Height: 33 3/4 inches (way off the charts)
Head: 19 3/4 inches

Davis is Groovin

I found him last night on the table in the playroom jamming out to Jack Johnson. He definitely has some new groovy moves. Unfortunately, once the video started rolling, he got shy. I got a few seconds though.

He is so stinking cute, and it looks like he got his Daddy's dance moves :).

Hop Hop Hoppin House

SUNDAY FUNDAY!!!

M and D get fancy :)

We went to a wedding on Saturday for one of my best friends from high school. It was a beautiful ceremony with an amazing reception at The Driskill.  We picked up Ashley (Baskin) on our way and she came with us. She is about 5 months pregnant and looks stunning! We can't wait to meet baby boy Peyton!

It was a great night (including a couple blisters from my shoes - I can't seem to walk in heels anymore!). Many congratulations and blessings to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wilson!!!

* Many thanks to Vicci for letting me borrow this gorgeous dress. I totally want to steal it!

Spoons and Forks!

Look who is using her very own silverware!!! And she is pretty good!

BOOKS!

Davis has always loved books, but in the past couple of weeks, our little Anna has become obsessed! She says "book" and will immediately try and sit down in your lap to read. We love it! They even told me at school how much she loves to read.

Davis's favorite books right now are:
The Hat
Goodnight Moon
Five Little Monkeys
Clifford the Big Red Dog

Anna's favorite books right now are:
Moo, Baa, La La La!
Toes, Ears, & Nose!
Baby Touch and Feel First Words
Shake It Up, Baby!
That's Not My Dolly...
Where is Baby's Mommy?
First 100 Words

I hope their love of books continues!

Rain, Rain Go AWAY!

It has been raining here the past couple of days. And by rain, I mean POURING all day and all night. I am so thankful for our lakes and our yards, but the babies get a little stir crazzyyyyyy!!! I got an email this morning from Rolly Pollies about open gym, and I thought, PERFECT!!! So off we went this morning to Rolly Pollies (think bounce house, trampolines, foam pits, gym equipment, and rock climbing walls). There was hardly anyone there and the kids had a GREAT time. I got a few pictures, but there were on my cell so the quality is not that great.

We had taken some classes here before and I think the kids remembered this place, because they ran free and went everywhere! Anna is getting (well, always has been) so independent and she played so well. She especially loved the long trampoline. Here is a little video (again, bad quality from my phone).

Jacob and Miquele came too and then came over to play and have lunch! We love love love our time with them.

This afternoon, Davis took a longgggggggggg nap and Anna did not nap. I knew something was wrong and she has had a persistent runny nose for a week. I decided to run her up to the doctor and sure enough she has an ear infection. Poor thing - and her balance has been off a LOT in the last week. She is on some medication now and should be cleared up in no time! We have a new pediatrician (Dr. Danielle Grant at Beansprout Pediatrics) who also happens to be our friend and neighbor. It is the best of all worlds and her practice opened TODAY right here in Lakeway. We are so happy for them and so excited to have such great heath care so close.

One last note...Davis has been asking lately about "big boy underwear" and going and getting it out of his drawer. I am thinking it is time to start potty training again. Anyway, tonight he really wanted to wear  a pair that had Mickey Mouse on them (or VaVa as he calls Mickey).  And here he is, showing them off for all to see. Over his pajamas. For safety reasons of course :).

Second Day of School Update!

The babies had their second day of school (in the pouring rain - thank you hurricane Hermine) and they did great! When I went to get Davis, he was sweeping the floor and helping the teachers clean up. They told me he was the class helper that day and did a great job! I am so proud of him!!!

Anna did well, but the teachers said she was a little more sensitive than usual and needed her bunny. They also said she was sad when Davis walked by and she couldn't play with him. Her daily report said that she "cooked the balls and blocks in the microwave" and "loves books." She REALLY has been enjoying books more and more the past couple of weeks and we love it!

Labor Day Weekend!

I will keep it brief, but we had a wonderful, fun filled weekend full of friends, laughter, and great weather. Friday night, the Dunkleys came over for a little Black Wolf Run block party and then spaghetti dinner. We had a great time and always enjoy our time with them! Here is a picture of the Dads bathing the babies after getting COVERED in spaghetti. They were both literally orange.

Saturday was a beautiful day and excitement was in the air as college football season had arrived! We went over to the Swope's house to watch the Texas game and grill out! Davis played hard all day with Ewing and Charlotte. They played outside most of the time and Davis had a blast driving and being driven around in Ewing's Jeep. Needless to say he crashed hard that night. Momma and Daddy went out with the Gonskis for dinner at Asti - it was delicious!

Sunday was spent out on Lake Austin, probably our last time for the summer. We went to the Campbell's lake house and Brad and Heather came too. It was a great day....and maybe we will leave it at that!  On Monday, we all went out to Horseshoe Bay and GoGo fixed a complete turkey dinner.  Thank you GoGo for all of your help!

Football has started, the Crock-Pot has surfaced, and football is on TV.......FALL IS HERE!!!

Weekly Costco Run

Anna's boyfriend Jacob and his Momma came with us - it was super fun! This picture is too cute not to post :).

(They were really happy, you just might not be able to tell by this picture)

Backpack

Oh, the backpack. Last night Davis slept with it (and the lunchbox) in his bed. First thing this morning - backpack. Today at Costco - backpack. Looks like a new staple around here!

First Day of Preschool!!!

Today was a monumental day - the babies started "school" at Lakeway Christian Church Preschool (LCCP). Davis went to a couple of summer camps there so we were already a little prepared for the surroundings and order of things. I took the kids to the Open House last week and met their teachers - we loved them all and I knew it was going to be a great year! They are going Tuesdays and Thursday from 9 to 1. They have a snack and lunch there, along with chapel every day, playground time, and arts and crafts.   Over the weekend, Davis picked up the diaper bag and started carrying it around. A little idea popped into my head and I asked him if he wanted to wear his backpack - he LOVED it. So much so that it has been to Home Depot, worn during several meals, and on him countless hours of the day. Until then - he did NOT want anything to do with it. So we took the opportunity to talk about school and he has seemed very excited.
Here are a few pictures from last night - getting ready for the big day!
Anna wears everything like a bracelet.

Davis woke up this morning and the first thing he said was "backpack" followed shortly by "lunchbox." He was ready! Daddy made everyone his special breakfast - waffles!!! The kids chowed down!

The morning flew by and it was time to head over to school! I got a couple of picks, but Davis has his eyes closed in a lot of them.

Anna's boyfriend Jacob is in her class!

We dropped off Davis first and he did amazing - we never had to hold him or anything. He went right into his room and put his backpack and lunchbox in his cubby. (I was a little scared he would not want to take it off!). We minimized the "goodbyes" with him and he did great!. Next week dropped off Anna - our little independent bird. She would fly from the coop right now if she could. Jacob, her little boyfriend, is in her class so they immediately teamed up! It was a success! (Note: I did forget their snacks though so I had to run home and get them. There was SO much to remember...2 backpacks, 2 lunch boxes, extra clothes, extra shoes, snacks, lunches, sippy cups....oh, well)

About 10:30am, after a little workout, I saw a missed call on my phone from the school. OH NO, I thought. Anna has a little runny nose, so I was thinking they might want me to come pick her up. Anna's teacher Miss Cami, had left me a message that Anna was playing outside with Davis and fell and has a little "road rash" on her forehead. She didn't cry and was all cleaned up, but they just wanted to let me know. I wasn't surprised, she is a little clumsy...and a climber...and not scared of anything!

Pickup time came fast and we couldn't wait to get them!

We got great feedback from the teachers. Davis was a perfect angel, but we already knew that of course :). Anna's class gets a little slip with notes from the day. It said: Today I was HAPPY. I ate ALL my snack and ALL my lunch. My favorite activities are: "Climbing on the sofa! Loves singing Elmo. Loves to sound like a monkey!"

Apparently she was cracking all the teachers up with her monkey noises. And they nicknamed "Sassyfrass". Again, not surprised. The day went GREAT (and she only came home with a little wound) and they are already looking forward to next week.

*I am finally caught up on my posts, so I hope to do them more often again!
